What happens next?

We are now in the repair and recovery stage. We are continuing to work with contractors and our insurers to understand the full extent of the damage and what will be covered. Our initial estimate for the affected section of the roof alone is around £50,000, with further costs likely for internal repairs and restoration. There is still a lot of work to do, but our priority is clear: we need to get the roof fixed and restore the damaged areas while keeping our services running.

Help Us Weather the Storm

Many people have contacted us to ask how they can help, and we are incredibly grateful for the support we have already received. We have now launched our Help Us Weather the Storm appeal. We are fundraising because we want, as far as possible, to protect the money already entrusted to us to support people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Our existing grants and donations fund the people and resources that keep Shiloh running – including staff, food, essential supplies, activities, practical support and the everyday costs of delivering our services. We do not want to divert those resources into major building repairs if we can avoid it.

This isn’t really about a roof

The roof is part of the story, but what matters most is what happens underneath it. Every week, people come through Shiloh’s doors for food, practical support, housing advice, health and wellbeing services, activities and access to specialist organisations. Sometimes, people simply need somewhere safe and welcoming to be, where they will be listened to, treated with dignity and supported to take their next steps. That is what we are working to protect.
